Digitalization of the Škoda Auto exhibition in the German “car city” (Autostadt, Wolfsburg)

The Škoda Auto Pavilion is located in a bulding designed by Czech architect Bořek Šípek. Although the building remains same on the outside, visitors will find a number of new features inside the pavilion.

“We have been operating the Škoda Auto Pavilion since its establishment with a focus on families with children and individual fans. We aim to excite them not only with the rich and varied history of one of the oldest car brands in the world, but also with the current offer,” says Andrea Frydlová, head of the Škoda Museum, which is involved in running the pavilion. “Among families and school trips, the Škoda pavilion has been one of the most popular in the past, and we want to build on this with the new exhibition,” adds Simona Tomanová, from Škoda Auto’s marketing department.

The aim of our cooperation with Škoda Auto was to include interactive elements in the exhibition so that visitors could enjoy everything as much as possible. And that includes children. At UGO! we took care of both the hardware (screens, LEDs, computers, etc.) and the software (creating various microsites or interactive games), running remote digital signage management for the kiosks. All the equipment is autonomous, i.e. it starts up and switches itself on within operating hours and is also prepared for potential power outages. Everything is monitored and managed remotely, personal service is often unnecessary nowadays (and unnecessarily expensive due to the distance between Prague and Wolfsburg). All materials meet the highest S1 flammability certification.

So what digital experiences have we provided?

  • Info-panels for each model explain every detail that could possibly come to mind.
  • You can compete against the computer or another person on the bike trainers, or see who can produce more energy in 60 seconds by pedaling the bike trainers to charge the Enyaq electrical car.
  • Digital table hockey allows you to face your friend or offspring without putting on skates or grabbing a hockey stick
  • The ambient light is exactly in line with the different colour shades of the Škoda interior and you can switch between these colours.
  • The opportunity to try out the Škoda Connect operating system, which is available in the onboard computer of all Škoda cars.

What is Autostadt?

The Autostadt is an automotive theme park that opened in Wolfsburg, Germany, on the occasion of the EXPO 2000 exhibition (held in Hannover). It covers an area of 28 hectares and offers visitors the opportunity to absorb experiences related to the cars of the Volkswagen Group. The aim of the park is to show visitors and fans not only the cars themselves, but also to present the history of the brands and their current philosophy and strategy. The pavilions of the individual brands (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles) are located in the heart of the park. The park offers activities for the whole family, and visitors can also take a tour of the Volkswagen factory. Autostadt also offers the opportunity to park here and spend the night in your own caravan or other motorhome. Selected brands from the VW Group also offer customers the opportunity to pick up their new car at Autostadt. This also makes it the largest customer centre of its kind in the world, with more than three million customers having picked up their cars here.
